Seward 2024-2025 Extended Learning
Minneapolis Public Schools would like to invite your child to participate in Extended Day Programming. This exciting program gives your child the opportunity to accelerate their academic skills in math, reading, science, and more. Class sizes are small and fun and students participate in enrichment classes as well as academic classes.

E1 GEMS and GISE JRS - Kelly O'Brien Mondays and Wednesdays
GEMS is Girls in Engineering, Mathematics, and Science. GISE is Guys in Science and Engineering. This year-long Project Based Learning program for students in grades 1, 2 and 3 provides positive early experiences in science, technology, engineering and math.
- Fall 2024 focus on Lego Robotics, SUBMERGED theme. Students learn to build and code a robotic Lego design and present at a district wide Exhibition in January.
- Spring 2025 focus STEM OF SPEED theme. Students explore concepts of speed and aerodynamics as they pertain to moving land vehicles (mostly cars). Students will have fun building different types of model cars.
E1 Stories and Art - Kia Britain Mondays only
This course is for students in grades 1, 2 and 3 who would like additional practice in fundamental literacy concepts.
E2 GEMS and GISE - Kate Kazemba Mondays and Wednesdays
GEMS is Girls in Engineering, Mathematics, and Science. GISE is Guys in Science and Engineering. This year long Project Based Learning program for students in grades 4, 5 and 6 provides positive early experiences in science, technology, engineering and math. Students work through the Engineering Design Process, share their work, and document their learning.
- Fall 2024 focus on Lego Robotics, SUBMERGED theme. Students build and code a robot out of Legos that must complete themed tasks. Students also research and present to judges, in addition to building and coding the robot.
- Spring 2025 focus STEM OF SPEED theme. Students build and test model cars, exploring the scientific concepts of speed and aerodynamics of land vehicles.
E2 Seward Tabletop Roleplaying Club -Tom Ward Mondays and Wednesdays
Attention 4th-6th grade students! The realm is in danger and brave adventurers are needed to save the day! Students will work collaboratively to tell and develop a story. Students use critical thinking and reasoning, creativity, flexible thinking, communication and problem solving, teamwork skills, and fundamental math skills. Students to create artwork, develop characters, and practice storytelling skills.
E2 Monday Math - Peggy Solensten Mondays only
This course helps students focus on foundational E2 Math topics and is intended for those who want some additional practice or extension of the Montessori math works found in their regular classrooms.
E2 Wordy Wednesdays - Peggy Solensten Wednesdays only
This course helps students focus on foundational E2 literacy topics and is intended for those who want some additional practice or extension of the Montessori literacy works found in their regular classrooms.
